How to Celebrate Your Anniversary During the Quarantine

During these difficult times, celebrating your wedding anniversary can feel somewhat counter-intuitive. However, the fact that confusing and difficult things are going on in the world doesn’t change the fact that you and your significant other love each other. And of course, you should celebrate love!

Now, if this is your first anniversary in, don’t worry, there will be plenty more to come, especially once you have kids. Many couples before you found themselves in similar situations and many will find themselves in a similar situation in the future. So, here are just some ideas that will help you plan an amazing anniversary date while practicing self-quarantining and self-isolation.

The classic dinner date

The fact that you can’t go to your favorite restaurant doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy their food. Luckily, plenty of restaurants still make house deliveries, which means that you can still enjoy a nice dinner date right in the comfort of your own home. Leave a nice hand-written invitation to your significant other and ask them to join you in the evening. If you have a backyard, you can even have a romantic dinner date outside. Set the mood by decorating the area where you’ll be having your dinner, get some cute clothes on, and order your favorite food online. Additionally, you can even browse the internet and find appropriate gifts for your loved one to make the night even more special. Gorgeous opal rings are a good idea for your women.

Good old movie night

This one is probably the most common stay-in date idea but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s always a great one. Since both of you were probably working before the pandemic broke out and chances are you didn’t have the time to see some of the newer titles, now’s your chance to do so. Make some delicious movie snacks, get your favorite drinks nice and cold, and snuggle up on the couch. Since you don’t have anywhere to go tomorrow, you can stay up late as long as you like and watch as many movies as you can handle in one sitting.

Wine and cheese night

If this is something you’ve never done before, you’re in for a treat. For this, you will need a few bottles of different wine and some artisan cheese. If you want to make it really fancy, get some fruit, such as grapes, pears, plums and figs, as well. To do it right, make sure you do some research online and see which wine pairs best with which type of cheese. You should also get some nice crackers to clear your palate in between different wine sips. Also, if you don’t have a fancy cheese board – don’t worry. It will all taste the same, no matter if you’re eating it off of a cheese board or a regular plate.

Treat yourselves to a spa night

If you have a somewhat larger bathtub or an outdoor spa, you’re in luck. Simply get your hands on some nice scented candles and a couple of bath bombs or essential oils and create a nice spa atmosphere right in your bathroom. Dim the lights and light up the candles to create a romantic vibe and simply relax and enjoy your bath together. If, however, you don’t have a bathtub, you can still bring some spa vibes into your home. Candles and scented oils will still be required but instead of enjoying a bath together, you can take turns massaging each other. The soothing atmosphere and gentile attention you pay to each other can even spark some deep and meaningful conversation. If not, it’s also okay to just stay silent together and enjoy the experience.

Enjoy a fun game night…

Game nights are always lots of fun, so why not have one for your anniversary? Chances are you have at least a game or two stashed somewhere in your home. So, go and grab your favorite ones, set them up on your dining room table and get to play. No matter which games you choose to indulge in, don’t forget to have fun.

…or a video game night

Okay, let’s face it – when was the last time the two of you had a fun video game night together? Probably way back when you first started dating. Now, since we appear to have more time on our hands and everyone’s practicing social isolation and distancing, we don’t have to worry as much about things like tidying up our homes every single day. Which leaves us with more time for gaming! So, finish all of your chores beforehand, make sure you get all of your favorite snacks and drinks close by and prepare yourselves for some good old fun. You can even try to pull an all-nighter just like you used to when you were younger.

Try something new together

Furthermore, everyone keeps saying that quarantine presents the perfect opportunity to learn something new. So, why not give it a shot? Talk to your partner beforehand and see if there’s anything they wish to learn how to do. This can be virtually anything, from DIY candle and soap making to knitting or learning how to play an instrument. Deepening on what you’ve chosen to do, you’ll also need to get the necessary supplies beforehand. Luckily, with services, such as Amazon Prime, you can have all of the necessary goods delivered to your doorstep in a matter of days.

Have a theme night

In the end, if none of these tips sound appealing enough, you can always throw a theme night. Choose a certain theme and organize the entire evening around it. For instance, if you’ve chosen a Mexican theme, play the appropriate music while you and your partner make burritos together. There are also plenty of amazing movies you can enjoy after you’re done with food, so make sure to check them out as well.

The fact that you’re stuck in quarantine for your anniversary doesn’t have to be all that bad. The day can still be super fun but only if the two of you decide to make it so.
